June 10th brought Kenny back to his hometown for round 8 of the King of the West Series.
Kenny would be one of the first cars on the track to qualify. With the track still slick Kenny would put the Chico Truck & RV car into the 12.6 bracket. Kenny would stay 4th for a while until the track started to come in leaving Kenny in the 22nd qualifying spot.
The heat race would bring some challenges, as Kenny would start on the outside of the third row. With only four cars going straight to the main Kenny had his work cut out for him. On the first turn Kenny dove the car in high to get around the 92 car putting him in 5th. The top in 1 and 2 and the bottom in 3 and 4 seemed to work for Kenny. He pulled a slide job on the 82 putting him in 4th with 4 laps to go. As the race progressed Kenny found himself on the rear bumper of the 2 car but was to late to make a move for the 3rd spot, still putting the 7K car in the show.
During the main Kenny’s car was loose. On one of the red flags the crew made a hard decision of pulling the car into the pits for late race repairs. Kenny felt that the car was much better after the changes. Kenny started last and work his way up into the 13th to finish the night.
